India's wildlife is both rich and varied. More than 4% of India's land is under forest cover - there are at least 90 national parks and 482 wildlife sanctuaries. Ranthambore among all is one of the largest and most famous national parks in northern region of India.
Ranthambore National Park is situated in Sawai Madhopur district of south-eastern Rajasthan, about 130 km from Jaipur that is also the nearest airport to reach this park. The park was declared one of the Projects Tiger Reserves in 1973. In the year 1980, Ranthambore become a national park. Ranthambore is today known as one of the prime examples of projects tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan state.
